Michael Nierenberg’s Approach To Mortgage Loans

Taking on the role of CEO and President in 2013 and Chairman of New Residential in 2016, Michael Nierenberg built a reputation for himself at the firm. Prior to joining, he had various high-level positions at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers, JP Morgan, and Bear Stearns. His approach to investment strategies at New Residential is to employ strategies that generate returns that are risk-adjusted. In order to do this, he has been investing in assets that are creating long-term cash flows which utilize conservative capital structures. This bold strategy earned Michael Nierenberg various titles and prestigious positions. Michael Nierenberg believes that it’s essential to move from the old way of finding mortgage loans, and that new results are to be expected by adopting a new method. When it comes to finding mortgage loans, Michael Nierenberg considers that the search should not be difficult.

Nierenberg established himself as a pioneer when it comes to investing in Excess Mortgage Servicing Rights, but throughout his career he also invested in serving advances, residential mortgage-backed securities, as well as consumer loans. New Residential, the company that he is currently at the helm of, is a New York City-based real estate investment trust.
